Spring 2013 Mike Art
"Spring Has Not Quite Sprung" is a Formal Complaint to Whoever or Whomever is in charge of the weather in our little section of the Universe -- in the guise of adding to the lexicon of Abstract Art of Westerndom and World Art. Enjoy my statement.
"Plutonian Bodhisattva" is a testiment that great ideas transcend our wonderful planet and can truly be Universal. The Hindu concept of the Bodhisattva is one such being emboding one such great idea. A man who shuns Nirvana and Ultimate Enlightenment until he can bring all other human beings into Nirvana first, holding the door open for everyone else, when he could just walk in himself without further care for anyone but himself. What a guy, huh? Sort of Christ-like, don't you think?
"Solar Flare 2013" stars the largest solar flare of 2013, as of April 11th. I Wrathellified it with purple and tried to enhance its visual power. I think I succeeded, IMHO. LOL! To those who love purple, bon appetit your heart out! And for those who love purple and green (okay, well, maybe it's cyan....) together.....oooh là là.....
A new company devoted to space exploration named Uwingu (at Uwingu.com) currently has a contest to suggest a name to the IAU (who is tasked with naming celestial objects when it isn't petulantly and unfairly demoting Pluto and messing up the proper definition of a planet) for Alpha Centauri Bb, the recently discovered exoplanet orbiting Alpha Centauri B, which is part of a triple-star system, the closest 3 stars to our Sun, itself a dwarf like Pluto -- but in its case, a yellow dwarf star. Oddly, dwarf stars like our Sun are still considered stars, yet Pluto, Ceres, Makemake, Haumea, and Eris (can't forget Charon, too) are not considered planets, only dwarf planets. Sounds like the IAU is being political to me, especially given the scare tactics it used on August 24th, 2006 in Prague to ram the rancid resolution down the throats of we Earthlings who love Pluto as a brother planet. Karma will get you, IAU. Pluto will be a planet again. I am Ceres. Anyway, Uwingu let me nominate "Beta-Carotene" while the nomination stage of their contest was open. Now the voting stage is open, so you can vote for Beta-Carotene if you think it would be a cool name, as I do, for Alpha Centauri Bb. I hope you do while voting is still open. By the way, I guess the IAU (International Astronomical Society) is a bit miffed at Uwingu. They are power-tripping still. Get a grip, IAU!
An exoplanet is any planet in the Universe that is not in our solar system, aka, The Solar System, by the way....
In "Boeboop,"Alpha Centauri A is top right. Alpha Centauri B is bottom right. That's the one Beta-Carotene/Alpha Centauri Bb revolves around. And, last but not least, Alpha Centauri C, also known as Proxima Centauri, is to the bottom left of the viewer's perspective. The prevaling wisdom in the astronomical community is that Proxima Centauri revolves around the other two at a distance of one-tenth of a light year. Pretty cool, huh?
